Macros
- Proteingoal 140 g
Protein is the metric most people open a tracker for. AIM estimates it per ingredient rather than per meal, so a swap of chicken for tofu shows up where it happened.
- Carbsgoal 220 g
Carbohydrate, broken out per ingredient, with fiber and sugar tracked separately so “carbs” does not have to mean three different things at once.
- Fatgoal 70 g
Total fat per meal, with saturated fat tracked separately as a cap — because they are two different questions and one number cannot answer both.
- Fibergoal 30 g
Fiber is the nutrient most people are short on and least likely to have a field for. In AIM it is a standard metric with its own goal and its own color on every chart.
- Sugarcap 50 g
Sugar is a cap in AIM, not a goal — a number to stay under, with a warning at the meal that takes you past it rather than a bar that keeps cheerfully filling.
- Saturated fatcap 22 g
Tracked as a cap, separately from total fat, because the two numbers answer different questions and most dietary guidance is about this one.
Vitamins and minerals
- Sodiumcap 2,300 mg
A cap, defaulting to 2,300 mg a day. Most sodium is not the salt shaker, which is why an estimate from the meal itself is more useful than a note to “use less salt”.
- Cholesterolcap 300 mg
Dietary cholesterol as a cap, defaulting to 300 mg a day — tracked because people are asked to track it, with a note on what current guidance actually says.
- Potassiumgoal 3,400 mg
A goal, not a cap — most people fall short. Potassium is the counterweight to sodium in blood pressure guidance and is missing from most macro trackers entirely.
- Calciumgoal 1,000 mg
A standard metric with a 1,000 mg daily goal — worth watching on a dairy-free or plant-based diet, where the shortfall is easy to miss.
- Irongoal 18 mg
An 18 mg daily goal by default. One of the most common reasons someone starts tracking a specific nutrient — usually after a blood test.
- Vitamin Cgoal 90 mg
A 90 mg daily goal. Easy to hit, easy to lose to cooking — and useful to pair with iron, because it improves absorption of the plant kind.
Hydration
Plus your own. A custom metric takes a name, a unit and a goal or a cap — folate in µg, omega-3 in g, sodas as a weekly count. How custom nutrients work →
A food diary you might actually keep
AIM is free on iPhone. Fourteen nutrients per meal, water counted from food, caps on anything you want to stay under.
