Terms of use

Last updated September 13, 2026

Plain terms for a free app. Using AIM means agreeing to them. If you do not, the remedy is simple: do not use it.

What AIM is

AIM is a food and nutrition logging app for iPhone. It estimates the nutrient content of meals from photographs and descriptions, records what you log, and shows it back to you.

What AIM is not

AIM is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical, dietetic or nutritional advice. Its figures are estimates. Its ingredient flags describe categories with documented histories, not measurements of the specific food in front of you — no software can measure contamination from a photograph.

Do not use AIM to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, to manage a diagnosed medical condition, or in place of advice from a qualified clinician. If you have an eating disorder or a history of one, please talk to someone before using any calorie tracking app, including this one.

Your account and your content

You can use AIM without an account. If you create one, keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.

Your log is yours. You keep all rights to the photos and text you put into AIM. You grant us only the license needed to run the service: storing your content, sending it to our AI provider to produce an estimate, and showing it back to you. That license ends when you delete the content or your account. See the privacy policy for the detail.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use AIM in a way that breaks the law where you are.
  • Upload content you have no right to upload, or that depicts someone who has not agreed to it.
  • Try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or scrape the service, or to get at anyone else's data.
  • Resell access to AIM or use it to build a competing dataset.

Price and changes

AIM is currently free, with no subscription and no paywalled nutrients. If that ever changes, existing features you already rely on will not be moved behind a paywall without notice and a way to export your log.

We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the service. If we shut it down entirely, we will give reasonable notice and a way to get your data out.

Warranties and liability

AIM is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that the estimates are accurate, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that it is fit for any particular purpose of yours.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from decisions you make based on the app's estimates. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Apple

AIM is distributed through the App Store. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. If AIM fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price — which, the app being free, is nothing.

Ending it

You can stop using AIM at any time and delete your account from inside the app. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
